Getting organized always seems a challenging task, but we've put together some basic organizing tips you can employ in any room of the house. Tip #1: pick a room, clear it
The most important though most obvious organizing tip is the most important. It can be a big task to 'get organized', so pick one room you will focus on. Decide this in advance so you don't start organizing everywhere, and get nowhere. Once you've picked your room, remove anything that does not belong there. Stack excess items in the general room or area they belong before you get started.

Tip #2: stack
Before you begin the organizing project; stack. Stack, stack, and stack. In the room you've selected, stack everything into areas that belong together (magazines, books, blankets, pillows, candles, etc.). You are tidying the room, by stacking.

Tip #3: inventory and reduce
The most difficult step but most refreshing organizing tip is the inventory and reduce step. Within each stack of inventory items, you get to select your favorites. (Try to be strong and get rid of excess items!). If you know you don't want them in this room, put them in another to be re-organized later. Remember, you are trying to create the organized room of your dream!
Take a brief inventory of storage items available -- boxes, baskets, shelves, drawers -- depending on which room you are in, you are focused on understanding all your available storage solutions to 1) use for current items, and 2) determine storage and organizing solutions you need.

Tip #4: storage solutions - put it away
You've hopefully gotten rid of items that don't belong, are in excess, or you have been meaning to put elsewhere. Using baskets, boxes, shelves and the storage solutions available, put it away. Put the books with the books, blankets with blankets, pillows with pillows and so on.
